Grounded Adaptive Math Experience
Making math a game worth playing.
How can a math game that treats mistakes as part of play, rather than failure, improve engagement and achievement for students in grades 7 through 10?
Why It Matters
In 2022, U.S. math scores saw their first decline since the 1970s. A big reason is math anxiety: students taught that math has one right answer learn to fear being wrong, so they stop taking risks.
Our Approach
We are building a game where a wrong answer is just the next try. Research shows well-made games can teach math as well as drills, because they turn a dead end into a retry worth making.
Our Goal
We focus on grades 7 through 10, the jump into pre-algebra and algebra where engagement often falls off, and we are both building the game and testing it, so the results are ours to prove.
